Physiotherapy study programme
Šiauliai State College offers a course of Physiotherapy of 3 years duration. The Professional Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy and Qualification of the Physiotherapist are awarded to students who complete the course. Students having secondary education are admitted to the study programme.
Purpose of study programme: This helps to develop skills of mobility disorders evaluation, the choice of treatment procedures and application in order to improve patient’s health. This study programme is for individuals with a secondary education who wish to become physiotherapists. Graduates of Physiotherapy programme acquire professional competences to work individually or in a team, and using physiotherapy means help individuals regain, maintain or improve their functional potential or compensate disabilities.

Practice carried out during the studies:
- Observational Practice of Physiotherapy – 2 weeks;
- Practice of Physiotherapy of Internal Diseases – 4 weeks;
- Practice of Surgical, Neurological, Traumatologic Physiotherapy – 6 weeks;
- Practice of Physiotherapy in Paediatrics – 4 weeks;
- Pre-graduation Practice of Physiotherapy – 6 weeks.
Optional Subjects: Professional Ethics, Basics of Philosophy, Basics of Psychology, Basics of Pedagogics, Sports Medicine, Pharmacology, Environmental Medicine, Pain Rehabilitation, Motion Control, Applied Physical Education, Occupational Therapy, Soft Tissue Mobilization.
After acquiring the professional qualification of a physiotherapist, an individual should:
- be able to choose appropriate physiotherapy means and complete procedures of treatment, prepare individual program of physiotherapy, analyze and generalize the results of functional condition and physical capability of an individual;
- know regulations of a physiotherapist code of ethics, legal documents, related to health safety, innovations and results of rehabilitation science;
- be able to work in teams, think critically, and make decisions individually, concerning patient’s health condition.
Final assessment
The studies are completed with the defence of Graduation Paper.
Access to further study: A graduate continuing at the first cycle university studies may claim approval of the results gained at college studies or may be admitted to the second cycle university programmes after bridge courses.
Professional status: Having acquired the qualification of a physiotherapist, the graduate is competent to perform the work of physiotherapist in rehabilitation, educational institutions, SPA and sport centres, social care facilities by providing treatment, rehabilitation, maintenance and strengthening of health with the help of motion and physical exercises.
Study Fee: 2000 EUR/ year.
Accommodation is provided in the Students’ Hostel (Price – 100 EUR/month).
