Student from Turkiye: It was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life!

I can describe my Erasmus+ experience as a life-changing experience. To use Erasmus+ opportunity was the greatest decision I have ever made. It was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life!

When I arrived in Lithuania, I realised that the Erasmus+ programme is more about cultural exchange, not just studies. The chance to live in a different country and meet people from diverse backgrounds is an attractive part of the programme. I was so glad to meet friends from Italy, Spain, Türkiye, and Rwanda. All of them were special to me, and we have made a lot of memories. I was impressed with the beauty, calm and warmth that Šiauliai has, which made me feel right at home.

We also had the opportunity to participate in the activities of the project “Improving the psychological learning environment and strengthening the mental health of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija students”. During the project activities, we introduced our countries and cultures to other international students. What I liked the most was getting to know Lithuanian culture and people more closely. The important part is to understand that there is a whole world out there that doesn’t look the same as us, doesn’t speak the same language as us and was mentioned by our Lithuanian teacher in our international students meeting, ”We all have values”.

I hope to visit Lithuania and Šiauliai again with my loved ones someday. That’s why I’m not saying goodbye, but I will say, ‘till we meet again.
