Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution Team at the NEOLAiA Alliance General Meeting in Sweden

On May 19-20, representatives of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution gathered at Örebro University to discuss the Alliance’s future directions, work achievements, and further strategic goals. 

Members of the Governing Board, Steering Committee, and Executive Committee took part in the meeting. 
During the discussions, the participants reflected on the achievements of the first phase of the NEOLAiA project, discussed the lessons learned, and planned further steps to strengthen the Alliance’s activities.

Active Involvement in the Alliance Governance Activities 

At the General Meeting, Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution was represented by Director Dr. Lina Tamutienė, Deputy Director Dr. Nedas Jurgaitis, Head of Studies and Research Coordination Service Dr. Rasa Pocevičienė, and NEOLAiA Project Communication Manager Gina Zdanavičienė.

Dr. Lina Tamutienė participated in the Governing Board meetings, where the strategic directions of the NEOLAiA Alliance, its long-term vision, and opportunities for strengthening partnerships were discussed.

Dr. Nedas Jurgaitis joined the activities of the Steering Committee, where particular attention was given to strengthening cooperation between institutions, coordinating activities, and ensuring effective implementation goals.

Dr. Rasa Pocevičienė and Gina Zdanavičienė participated in the Executive Committee meetings, during which ongoing activities, new initiatives, and practical issues related to the implementation of the Alliance were discussed.

Strengthening International Cooperation

The General Meeting became an excellent opportunity for representatives of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution to exchange experiences with international partners, actively engage in discussions about the future of European higher education, and strengthen institutional ties within the NEOLAiA Alliance.

Over the course of the two-day meeting, workshops, strategic discussions, and joint reflection sessions were held, focusing on strengthening work packages, developing new activities, and increasing the Alliance’s impact on regions.

One of the key highlights of the meeting was the signing of a new joint study programme, “Artificial Intelligence and Social Robotics in Global Health,” between Örebro University, Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, and University of Tours. This initiative once again demonstrated NEOLAiA’s ambition to create innovative, internationally oriented study opportunities.

Looking Ahead

Participation in the General Meeting once again confirmed the active involvement of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution in the activities of the NEOLAiA Alliance and its commitment to contributing to the creation of an innovative, open, and international European higher education area.

As NEOLAiA enters a new phase, representatives of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution returned with new ideas, strengthened partnerships, and motivation to actively contribute to the Alliance’s future goals and positive regional impact.

The NEOLAiA Alliance is a European university alliance that advocates for inclusion, strengthens democracy, and encourages its members to work for the benefit of their regions. The Alliance consists of nine higher education institutions: Bielefeld University, Örebro University, Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution, University of Jaén, University of Nicosia, University of Ostrava, University of Tours, Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, and University of Salerno.

The main activities of the NEOLAiA Alliance include alliance management, international mobility, teaching and learning, the regional impact of research activities, entrepreneurship education, diversity and inclusion, interculturality and multilingualism, digitalisation, and the sustainability and dissemination of project activities.
